A sequel is currently in development, this time produced only by Fox after the closing of Blue Sky Studios. The film was negatively welcomed by audience and was a box office disappointment. Adam DeVine, Nick Offerman, Max Greenfield, Stephanie Beatriz, Jessie J, Jesse Tyler Ferguson and Michael Strahan joined the cast voicing new characters.
